Email Transfer Account SMTP Configuration

This Guide will walk you through the process of connecting a custom Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) account to your Gersuz Dashboard. Adding your own SMTP server gives you greater control over your email delivery and scalability for your campaigns.

SMTP Configuration

🛠️ To Begin The Setup Process, Follow These Steps in Your Gersuz Dashboard:

  1. From the Sidebar of the Gersuz dashboard , select the Settings option in the Email Marketing section.
  2. Click on Configuration.
  3. In the Configuration section, select the SMTP tab.
  4. Click the "Add" button to open the New SMTP Account Setup Form.

Configure Your SMTP Account Details

On the setup page, you will enter all the necessary information to securely connect and manage your SMTP account.

FieldDescriptionImportance
Email AddressThe sender email address that will be used for your campaigns.Required for proper sending identity.
Sender NameThe name that recipients will see as the sender (e.g., "Gersuz Support").Highly recommended for professionalism and trust.
SMTP Server HostThe address of your SMTP server (e.g., smtp.yourdomain.com).Required for connection.
SMTP PortThe port number used for secure communication (e.g., 465 or 587).Must match your server's required port.
SMTP PasswordThe credentials for authenticating with your SMTP server.Required for secure access.

Ensure Secure and Sustainable Sending

These critical settings are essential for maintaining the Health of Your SMTP Account , Preventing Suspension, and ensuring high deliverability.

Security Protocol

  • Crucially, Select The SSL/TLS Option or 'Auto'. We recommend using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to establish a secure and encrypted connection between Gersuz and your mail server, ensuring email integrity.

Sending Limits (Anti-Suspension Measures):

  • Hourly Sending Limit: Define the maximum number of emails this SMTP account can send Per Hour.
  • Daily Sending Limit: Define the maximum number of emails this SMTP account can send Per Day.

⚠️ Important Note: These limits must be configured carefully according to the capacity, policies, and restrictions of your SMTP sending server. Exceeding these thresholds can significantly increase the risk of your SMTP Account being rate-limited, Suspended, or even blacklisted. Always review Your SMTP Provider’s Documentation to determine the appropriate sending limits before finalizing your settings.

Finalizing the Setup

Set as Default

  • You have the option to check the "Default" box. If selected, This SMTP Account Will be Used as The Primary, default sender for all your email marketing campaigns unless a specific sending account is chosen for a particular campaign.
  • Once all fields are accurately filled and secure settings are applied, click "Save".
  • Upon saving, Gersuz will automatically send a test email to the configured email address.
  • The Successful Receipt of This Test Email is your confirmation that the entered Configuration is Correct, The Connection to Your SMTP Server is Successful , and the Account is Ready For Use.

💡 Expert Recommendation: Use a Business SMTP Relay Service

For higher Sending Capacity, Better Deliverability, and more Reliable operation, we strongly Recommend using a Business SMTP Relay Service (Such as SendGrid, Mailgun, Amazon SES, Google Workspace, etc.). These services are specifically designed for Bulk Email sending and provide stronger infrastructure as well as improved Sender Reputation.

For more details on the benefits and Setup of SMTP Relay services, please visit the SMTP Relay Section in the Gersuz Knowledge Base.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between an SMTP Account and an SMTP Relay?
An SMTP Account typically refers to a standard email account (like a personal Gmail or Outlook account) primarily used for low-volume, personal correspondence. An SMTP Relay (or email relay service) is a dedicated, specialized server infrastructure designed for high-volume, bulk sending (like marketing campaigns) with features for reputation management, authentication, and better deliverability. We strongly recommend using a dedicated Relay for marketing campaigns.
  • Which Port should I use for a secure SMTP connection?
The most commonly recommended secure ports are: Port 465: Used for the SMTPS protocol (SMTP over SSL/TLS). This is often the preferred choice for a fully encrypted connection. Port 587: Used for the STARTTLS protocol, which establishes a secure connection after the initial handshake. Always consult your specific SMTP provider's documentation to confirm the correct port and security protocol (SSL/TLS) they require.
  • What happens if I exceed the Hourly or Daily Sending Limits?
Exceeding the sending limits set by your SMTP provider (or the limits you set in Gerceus) is highly risky. Consequences often include: Account Suspension: Your SMTP account may be temporarily or permanently suspended by your provider. Blacklisting: Your sending IP address or domain may be added to spam blacklists, severely damaging your sender reputation. Poor Deliverability: Future emails may be automatically routed to recipients' spam folders. It is crucial to set limits in Gerceus based on the capacity guaranteed by your SMTP provider.
  • Why did my test email fail even though I used the correct credentials?
There are a few common reasons for connection failures: Firewall Block: Your network's firewall might be blocking the port Gerceus is trying to use (e.g., Port 465 or 587). Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): If your provider (like Google or Microsoft) has 2FA enabled, you may need to generate a specific App Password for Gerceus instead of using your main account password. Security Settings: The SMTP provider might require you to explicitly enable "less secure app access" or enable the SMTP Relay feature in your account settings. Check with your email service provider's support for specific security requirements.
